What if the Wayback Machine doesn't have my site?

What can’t be restored from the archive?

The Wayback Machine only saves what visitors could see, so your pages, posts, images, CSS and links can come back. Your old database, user accounts, passwords, orders, form entries and pages that were never archived cannot. Contact forms come back looking the same, but they need a form plugin to send messages again.

Do I need the Wayback Machine link, or is my domain enough?

Either works, and you don’t need any old files or backups. If you have it, paste the full Wayback Machine link of the version you want. If you only have your domain, choose “I only have my website domain” at checkout (+$15 per site). We’ll find a stable snapshot and email it to you, and no work starts until you confirm.

Do I need my own hosting?

Yes. We don’t sell hosting, so you can use any provider you like. HTML files run on any web host. For WordPress, pick “Make it live on my hosting” at checkout: it’s free when WordPress is already installed. New hosting, domain/DNS setup and a fresh WordPress install aren’t part of the standard price. If you need them, we send a quote first.
