Getting started with Wayback Revive is straightforward. You only need a small amount of accurate information — no technical background or saved files required. Here is a breakdown of what to have ready, what is helpful but optional, and what you can skip entirely.

Required information

You must provide these three things to begin your restoration:

Domain name

Your current or expired domain name (for example, example.com).

Restoration type

Whether you want an HTML or WordPress restoration. Not sure yet? See HTML vs WordPress.

Email address

A working email address so the team can send updates and deliver your restored site.

Optional but helpful

These details are not required, but they help the team work faster and produce a more accurate result:
  • Old hosting details — if you still have access to your previous hosting account or remember the provider
  • Sitemap or page list — a list of URLs or pages you want prioritized in the restoration
  • Reference screenshots or links — any saved screenshots or cached links showing how the site used to look

What you do not need

You do not need any of the following — the team handles the entire technical process for you.
  • Original website source files
  • Previous backups or database exports
  • Developer credentials or server access
